Primitive art is a term used for traditional societies. The term applies to the traditional art of non-western cultures. The artists of the primitive art are primarily interested in portraying humans, animals or the supernatural, rarely they focus landscape as their source of inspiration. Their main themes are fertility, death, spirituality… and most of their work are sculptures made in materials such as iron, bronze, wood, marble or terracotta.
